We are firstly a piling contractor who has the flexibility, experience, and equipment to complete anything and everything from the piling only to all of the early works required for a site to hand over to a builder to commence construction
Our experience acquired over in excess of 20 years gives us a unique ability to review the designs of others to determine optimum cost effective solutions for a projects retaining and foundation requirements. Our regular clients often consult us before engaging a structural engineer for our opinion on design.
We have over 20 years of experience in piling and excavation in all types of ground conditions including sand, clay, and rock and any combination of these materials on one site. Our piling rigs have the capacity to drill in all of these materials including multiple metres in hard rock. We also have experience in all types of terrain from flat to very steep and in circumstances where we are the only piling company with the experience and equipment to do the required piling and excavation
We have the flexibility and capacity to undertake jobs from tens of thousands to multiple millions of dollars. Our innovative approach and experience has enabled us to undertake work in restricted and difficult access sites. We often place more than one piling rig and multiple excavators on one site to achieve maximum productivity and reduce building program timeframes.
We provide our quotations for work on a fixed lump sum based on the drawings and documents that are provided. While we always aim to stay within the lump sum we quote our price is only as good as the information we are provided to price the work. Where we feel there is risk or uncertainty in relation to our pricing we will always advise of these risks and ways in which we believe the risk of variations can be reduced.
We will always provide a detailed program for our work including an estimate of how long it will take. As long as the assessment of the ground conditions is accurate we can be confident of our program other than for the unexpected and the weather. It is always in everyone’s best interest that the work is completed in the shortest possible time and we strive to achieve this objective in all of our projects big or small.
For the majority of our work we are engaged by either builders or developers. Working directly for the builder of a project is the best option as it is he who best knows how he wants us to complete our work to suit the way he intends to construct the building. As good as structural engineers and architects drawings are, there are always site conditions and circumstances that may not have been anticipated when the structure was originally designed.
While there is no substitute for the experience and ability of a structural engineer, working below the ground has risks associated with it that do not exist above the natural ground level. There is also no substitute for thorough investigation and research into ground conditions in the context of what is proposed to be built. There will always be a far greater risk if the extent of the investigation is not to the full extent and full depth of the proposed structure. Anything less exposes the project to risk of both additional cost and time.
All of our work is required to be performed in accordance with standards in measurement and quality set down by the Australian Standards Association. These standards are also referred to in the requirements set down by the projects structural engineer. In addition to the our work being overseen by the builder of the project we are required to, and will, provide written certification of the work we carry out on completion. This work is supported by records that are completed on a daily basis of all piling works of each individual pile as it is installed.
No other piling contractor has been installing piles and carrying out complete early works packages longer than Pile & Bucket. There is no substitute for experience and expertise. The company’s longstanding employees and extensive portfolio of unique equipment for both piling and excavation place the resource base of the company in a position which is unmatched in the construction industry.
